Camp Zink

Here we are on our camping weekend. It was the first weekend we've camped in a few years. It was fun but cold and wet. The first night there was a thunderstorm that produced some pretty strong winds and lead to a sleepless night for everyone except Maisie who slept through everything. The rest of the weekend was dry but pretty chilly. You'll notice not only did we wear our winter hats and fleeces all weekend but giant rain boots as well. Oh.... of course Maisie wasn't cold, she once again was more concerned with looking pretty so she wouldn't wear a coat, or hat, or boots..... huh..... every family has one.............

"Camping was pretty fun. I fished and learned to use a new slingshot. Fishing was pretty hard and I didn't catch anything but I tried for a long time. I can cast but I don't put the worm on the hook by myself because they slither too much and they are too big and juicy and fat and hard to put on. For the slingshot Sam and I gathered rocks and flinged them them off of Beaver Island and if we were lucky they made it to the other side. We played at a park at the campground and went to the activity barn. We played games and made my mom cookies for Mother's Day. Sam and I won coupons for a free dessert at the campground restaurant. It was a fun weekend even though it rained on Friday night and I was scared and had to go to the car for about half an hour because of the thunder and lightening. I missed the cats but I had fun playing at the campground. I want to go back again." By Ben

Here are the girls - Sammy went fishing and Maisie threw rocks in (of course, a foot away from where Sam was fishing until we sidetracked her). Be sure to notice the way Samantha so carefully chooses the right worm to put on the hook. I think I am going to try Uncle Joey's trick and get her a glove so she can get used to doing all of the messy work herself, I am not a big fan of doing it myself!
